Written Confession: Stalked and Charged in the Woods of Kansas

The following written confession was submitted by email. Identifying names have been redacted.

I was listening to the episode you did on dogman and the owls and I’ve never heard an encounter that so closely mirrored one some friends and I experienced in 2006. I would just like to share the story with you. This would have been in high school in North Newton, KS . . . It was a pretty common place for us to hang out at as they had a fire pit . . . We had previously walked the trails some but mostly stayed to the at the “trailhead” where the fire pit was at. Mind you this was a weird group, we would go ghost hunting around the area and all, taking some crazy pictures and were probably a lot more connected to the supernatural than we should have been. I want to say there were 5 - 6 off us that night. Anyway there was a little storm shelter about halfway through the trails (maybe a half mile if that) that supposedly a hobo was living at. So my friend and I took a walk to go check it out. Once we got a the more wooded section we could hear something maybe 50 ft away start to mirror our movements through the brush. We stop and it would stop. Both of us got a little freaked out and turned back to go see if one of the others was messing with us, but we found them playing with the fire. After recounting our encounter and enduring the chastising from them, we decided to go back as a group. After rounding a corner before you hit the little creek that splits the trails, we stop to see if we can hear something following us again. After a few seconds we were “charged” from all sides with heavy crunching of stick and branches. We all took off at a dead sprint towards the direction of the fire. Once we passed through the opening to a little clearing I tripped and fell to the ground. [My friend] stopped to help me up and looking back there were two glowing eyes about 7 to 8 feet in the air staring at us. Whatever it was never once stepped out of the darkness of the tree cover. It took 10 years before I could walk that trail at night again and only with a group. I will admit that the “energy” is different than it was that night now. But it was the scariest thing I’ve ever witnessed.
