From the moment Sean’s father challenged Satan to a fight on his own authority, the battle that followed seems to have carried over into Sean’s entire life. He describes his early experiences as a child with a shadowy presence he called “The Night Mayor, a strange figure reminiscent of Spring-heeled Jack that “folded in” on itself and disappeared, and a dark hatted figure that he later realized his wife had also seen in her own childhood - just to name a few.
