Written Confession: Night Patrol Encounters With the Pale White Figures

The following written confession was submitted via email:

I have heard a several black-eyed children experiences, but that isn't what I experienced. I'll begin at the beginning...I was a police officer for several years. I worked a permanent midnight shift, and for some reason I left work to go home in the middle of the night one night (maybe I was sick or needed to get off early, I don't remember. It was about 30 years ago). I lived about 45 miles from the city I worked in and most of that drive was through very rural areas. As I approached a 4 way stop, I noticed two kids...well, probably closer to teens, in the roadway.

Being young, armed, invincible and always wanting to help, I got out of my car at the stop sign. The two kids approached me, and I asked if they were ok. They said they were going to the city I worked in (we were about 15-20 miles from the downtown part of the city) and asked for a ride. I told them that I was going the opposite direction, and it was too far for them walk. It was about this point where I noticed two things. First, there was always one that seemed to be trying to circle around behind me (which is bad tactics when outnumbered). If one was speaking the other was circling, and if I turned towards them, the other started circling. Second, I noticed that they were pale- not Caucasian, but white- bleach white. Clothes, skin, everything. They were so white they practically glowed. When I noticed, I started getting freaked out and decided it was time to get out of there...quick! I said that I had to go, and they should go home. I jumped back into my car and sped away. It took a while for the freaked out feeling to go away, but it finally did. I chalked it up to two kids on drugs and tried to forget about it.

Fast forward about 15 years. I had moved to a different state and was policing in a different city. One of our officers was out one night and I had to cover his beat. I was driving down the road, when I saw a car coming down a side street, with no headlights on. I figured it was a drunk, so I turned around and turned on my blue lights.

The car stopped almost immediately. As I stepped out of my patrol car, every hair on my body stood on end. A lot of cops will tell you that they have a 6th sense...or "cop sense" or "Spidey Senses"...and I had it too. I did not hear an audible voice, but one in my mind told me that if I did not get out of there, I would die there. I pushed through the feeling and walked up to the car.

When I got to the car, I had already started my well-rehersed-given-a-million-times speech introducing myself, giving the reason for the stop and asking for their driver's license, registration, and proof of insurance. I stopped mid-speech when I noticed the driver. It was an old woman, and she was white...almost glowing. She handed me her license and started speaking. And it was...wrong. The best way I could describe it is that she was speaking, and someone was tapping a mute button on and off. As she spoke (she was saying that she didn't realize her lights were off and apologized...normal stuff), I noticed she was all white- like someone had picked her up and dipped her in bleach. Her skin, her clothes...even her eyes were all white! I took her license, said "hang on a sec", and retreated to my car.

The whole time I was in my car, my little voice was screaming at me to leave IMMEDIATELY! This presented a problem. I had already called out the stop over the radio, and we had a policy that if you stopped a car, you wrote something. It could be a warning or a citation, but you had to write something. This was to prevent unlawful stops and to keep officers out of trouble. I considered speeding off, writing a warning later and ripping up the driver copy, anything. Funny, the only thing that never crossed my mind was calling another officer to come to my location. In the end, I bolstered my courage, said a prayer asking Jesus to protect me, and scratched out a quick warning.

Walking back up to the car, my knees were like jelly. I kept a hand on my weapon, and decided I was not going to interact. When I got to the back window of her car, I tossed the license and ticket into the open driver's window, and all in one breath said "Here is your license. I just wrote you a warning. Turn on your lights and be more careful. I have to go." I hustled back to my car and sped off. For months I could not ride by that road without getting that freaky, ominous feeling.

I have always said that if I have ever met anyone who was possessed, it was her. I did not remember the teens or even notice the similarities between her and the teens for years. I do not remember the teen's eyes and have wracked my brain trying to remember, but I guess that detail is lost forever.

I had several other odd occurrences over my life and career, but that was definitely the one that got to me the most. I have looked for other people who had similar experiences, but the Pale Crawler cryptid is the only thing I can find remotely close and my experience wasn't that.
