READ: Hundreds of Mysterious Speakers Found Screaming Near Mount Shasta
A horseback ride near Mount Shasta took a bizarre turn when a California woman and her daughter discovered what appeared to be an elaborate network of speakers broadcasting disturbing sounds into the wilderness.
Karrie Ann Snure and her daughter Jordan were riding near Highway 97 in Weed, California, when they heard an eerie screeching noise coming from off the trail. Following the sound, they reportedly found somewhere between 100 and 200 solar-powered Bluetooth speakers scattered across a hillside and planted in the ground.

When heard together, the speakers created a chaotic mixture resembling static, screaming, and electronic noise. Listening to individual speakers revealed something even stranger: some appeared to be playing spoken recordings, including what sounded like a sermon and a repeating voice in which the word “salvation” could reportedly be heard.
With no obvious explanation for the installation, theories quickly spread online. Suggestions ranged from a deterrent system for wolves or other wildlife to security for an illegal marijuana operation. Others proposed much stranger possibilities, including Bigfoot bait, a cult ritual, or some kind of occult activity.
Mount Shasta’s unusual reputation only fueled the speculation. For decades, the Northern California volcano has been associated with UFO sightings, Sasquatch reports, New Age spirituality, and legends of Lemurians supposedly living inside a subterranean city known as Telos. In the 1930s, Guy Ballard claimed to have encountered the spiritual figure Saint Germain on the mountain, an experience that helped inspire his I AM Religious Activity movement.
Snure initially wondered whether the speakers could somehow be connected to the mountain’s Lemurian mythology. During a later investigation, however, she used mapping software and determined that the installation appears to sit on private property bordering California government land.
That discovery answered where the speakers were located, but not the larger mystery. No one has publicly claimed responsibility for installing them, their purpose remains unknown, and the unusual broadcasts were reportedly still continuing.
For a mountain already famous for stories of hidden civilizations, UFOs, cryptids, and supernatural encounters, hundreds of speakers mysteriously screaming into the wilderness have now given Mount Shasta one more mystery to add to the list.
