READ: Russian Woman Sells Her Soul for 100,000 Rubles to Buy Labubu Dolls
In a bizarre and troubling incident from Russia, a 26-year-old woman signed away her soul for 100,000 rubles (roughly $1,180). What makes the story even stranger is what she chose to do with the money—she spent it on a Labubu doll collection and a concert ticket.

The unusual exchange began as a “joke” by a marketing specialist named Dmitri, who posted an ad on the Telegram platform offering to buy someone’s soul for 100,000 rubles. To make the “contract” feel official, he required it to be signed in blood. Dmitri claimed he never expected anyone to take the offer seriously. To his shock, a young woman named Karina responded, agreed to the terms, and sealed the contract in her own blood. Dmitri later shared photos online showing the signed document and proudly declared, “I just bought my first soul. I definitely feel like Davy Jones right now!”
For Dmitri, the stunt was framed as a “social experiment.” But for Karina, it was an easy trade. She told Russian media that she didn’t care what happened to her soul and was happy to use the money to buy the toys and concert ticket.
The Russian Orthodox Church, however, did not treat the incident lightly. In a public statement, church leaders warned that by signing such a contract, Karina had “truly sold her soul and therefore chose evil.” The church predicted that such a decision would lead to moral collapse, personal suffering, illness, and even death.
What stands out in this story is not only the reckless trivialization of something as sacred as the soul but also the disturbing symbolism of what it was exchanged for. Labubu dolls, with their grotesque, impish designs, already carry an aura of the uncanny—looking more like mischievous demons than toys. To sell one’s soul to acquire them feels like more than just coincidence; it almost reads like a ritual in itself.
This episode reveals the shocking lengths people will go for momentary pleasures, trading what is eternal for possessions that will never follow them beyond this life.
