Who doesn’t love a good “mysterious videos that cannot be explained” compilation?! The Internet is basically an endless universe of unexplainable, unusual, and just plain weird video clips, but that doesn’t stop us from watching! From an alleged mythical humanoid caught on camera, to a haunted highway, to a burned out building with an unexpected inhabitant, here are 5 more mysterious videos to scrutinize and hypothesize:
The following written confession + photos were shared via Reddit:
So back in 2013, I lived in Kent, WA, a suburb of Seattle. I lived there with my two high school buddies (M & R) from UT and they were getting ready to move back home while I was planning to move into another apartment in the area. R and I had always been into paranormal activities, including exploring houses which were formerly scenes of horrific incidents or doing ouija boards in known haunted areas. M had grown up Mormon, and although he is no longer, "f***ing with the devil" as he called it, was still out of his fun time wheelhouse.
About a week before our move out date, R and I were drinking some shine and had a grand idea to make a home Ouija board, download some ghost hunting apps and find out why the kitchen cabinets would always open themselves when we left the house, and why our pots and pans always found themselves on the kitchen floors while we were watching tv.
After all, we were moving out soon anyways, so why not haunt the damn place up?
We took a piece of poster board and a slightly modified shot glass and read some incantations for "waxing" the home made ouija board up. We have had INSANE, terrifying Ouija experiences in the past but we were unable to get this one to work. My guess is that although modified to slide better, the shot glass was too heavy to move freely on the poster board. I made the mistake of saying, "If there are any spirits around, we call upon you to communicate with us." Still nothing happened.
We resorted to using our ghost hunting apps courtesy of the AppStore-I get it, I think/thought they were total bullshit too. We had one with a radar, and the dots were never constant but when they did occur, there would be a single dot in our kitchen or there would be several dots from the area between my room and our porch. Coincidentally, our floors in the kitchen once creaked while the dot was in there.
We gave up on the radar and went to the EMF scanner. We heard words like pig, apple, pencil- nothing made any sense.
Then, it started to become extra creepy. It said look....... up...... out...... away..... out.....
Well, we started looking around, up and out and nothing happened. We started taking pictures on my phone and weren't able to see anything. Then, R pulled out his phone and switched it to the camera. He had one of the new Androids with the burst shot camera- a new feature for phones at the time.
He pointed at the door and told me to smile for the pictures. I had honestly given up, so while he was taking pictures, I leaned forward to roll a joint. His phone snapped 8 times before he started crying. He looked at me shaking and said, "Dude, I think we got something."
For R to start crying, I knew something was up. He started at picture 1- nothing except me, my Weim, Ringo and the Highwaymen above the fireplace. He got to picture 6 and a faint silhouette appeared in the frame as my body crossed the door from leaning forward. Picture 7 was the most vivid- the one I personally saved and posted here. In picture 8- no dice on the ghost.
We immediately dropped everything, taped some knives together to make a cross and spent the rest of the night saying the Our Father and pouring salt around the edges of our apartment. In the morning, we showed M the picture and he sent it to his mom. She went the extra mile to brighten the photo up and recognize that not only did our visitor have a face and a cross on their chest, but we also had 2 more standing right behind them.
These pictures have not been altered whatsoever other than brightness changes so that you can see everybody (Or lack thereof) in full detail. Feel free to check it for doctoring or any reverse image search. These are personally the scariest photos I've seen on this subject but I have a tough time acknowledging that they actually contain my back (And dog).
Frustrated pilots have finally persuaded the U.S. Navy to take their claims of UFO sightings seriously - does this mean that full UFO disclosure is on the horizon? Check out this breaking story from The Inquirer below, and share your thoughts and theories with us in the comments!
Frustrated pilots got Navy to stop dismissing UFO sightings
A recent uptick in sightings of unidentified flying objects — or, as the military calls them, “unexplained aerial phenomena” — prompted the U.S. Navy to draft formal procedures for pilots to document encounters, a corrective measure that former officials say is long overdue.
“Since 2014, these intrusions have been happening on a regular basis,” Joseph Gradisher, spokesman for the deputy chief of naval operations for information warfare, told the Washington Post on Wednesday. Recently, unidentified aircraft entered military-designated airspace as often as multiple times per month. “We want to get to the bottom of this. We need to determine who’s doing it, where it’s coming from, and what their intent is. We need to try to find ways to prevent it from happening again.”
Citing safety and security concerns, Gradisher vowed to "investigate each and every report."
Luis Elizondo, a former senior intelligence officer, told the Post that the new Navy guidelines formalized the reporting process, facilitating data-driven analysis while removing the stigma from talking about UFOs, calling it “the single greatest decision the Navy has made in decades.”
Chris Mellon, a former deputy assistant secretary of defense for intelligence and a staffer on the Senate Intelligence Committee, was less laudatory.
"I don't believe in safety through ignorance," he said, scolding the intelligence community for its lack of "curiosity and courage" and "failure to react" to a strong pattern of sightings.
In some cases, pilots — many of whom are engineers and academy graduates — say they observed small spherical objects flying in formation. Others say they’ve seen white, Tic-Tac-shaped vehicles. Aside from drones, all engines rely on burning fuel to generate power, but these vehicles all had no air intake, no wind, and no exhaust.
"It's very mysterious, and they still seem to exceed our aircraft in speed," he said, calling it a "truly radical technology.”
According to Mellon, awestruck and baffled pilots, concerned that reporting unidentified flying aircraft would adversely affect their careers, tended not to speak up. And when they did, he said there was little interest in investigating their reports.
"Imagine you see highly advanced vehicles, they appear on radar systems, they look bizarre, no one knows where they're from. This happens on a recurring basis, and no one does anything," said Mellon, who now works with UFODATA, a private organization. Because agencies don't share this type of information, it's difficult to know the full extent of activity. Still, he estimated that dozens of incidents were witnessed by naval officers in a single year, enough to force the service to address the issue.
“Pilots are upset, and they’re trying to help wake up a slumbering system,” he told the Post.
Lawmakers' growing curiosity and concern also appeared to coax action out of the Navy.

By definition, a near death experience is “an unusual experience taking place on the brink of death and recounted by a person after recovery, typically an out-of-body experience or a vision of a tunnel of light.” Though fundamentally correct, the textbook definition of NDEs fails to capture the mystery, transcendence, and often supernatural nature of these episodes, which have been well-documented but still remain ambiguous in the wide scope of science.
Some may say NDEs are hallucinations while near the edge of death, or when someone was briefly dead and then revived. Others view them as a spiritual experience or proof of the afterlife, which either offer comfort to the near-dying, or scare them into changing their lives before they end up permanently dead. Though decades of research have gone into the study and documentation of NDEs, they blur an unusual line between science and spirituality, making the reality of near the death experience difficult to ascertain, let alone prove. What is known is that NDEs have been reported often enough for both science and spirituality to take notice, and those experiences have had a powerful impact on those fortunate or unfortunate enough to have had the experience. And while many NDEs have similar characteristics, no episode is ever exactly the same, making them as unique as they are remarkable.
In The Confessionals Episode 123: Island of Lost Souls, one guest describes his own near death experience, in which he found himself in a pleasant “holding place” resembling a beach. Like many NDEs, his experience was one of mystery but also of peace and beauty. Others, however, have a different story - near death events that are not peaceful, but terrible and traumatic. Below are 10 such accounts of amazing, transcendent near death experiences (provided by the Near-Death Experience Research Foundation), and 5 horrifying NDEs that would make anyone glad to be alive:
10 Amazing Accounts of Near Death Experiences
1) NDE due to trauma to the central nervous system from medical procedure: I went to a peaceful place. It was so beautiful that I thought, 'The earth is like a film that hasn’t been developed. Not until we reach the other side, is the film developed,. Everything will be seen in beautiful colors that don't exist here on earth.' I saw a beautiful meadow. There were flowers and colors that were so fantastic that our earthly brain can't comprehend it. The colors we have here on earth are very pale in comparison to the colors I experienced in the spiritual realm.
2) NDE due to drowning at age 19: Yahshael and I were teleported to the center of a vast golden field. I could hear the most beautiful music and I could feel it moving through me. The breeze blew against the tall golden wheat stalks, and as it did I could feel the spirit of all things living around me: animals, plants, the elements. I was one with them. I looked up and saw a huge ball of light that cast the purest, warm light all around me and felt God touch my skin. He knew me, he loved me no matter how imperfect my Earthly life had been.
3) NDE at age 13 due to drowning. Also a shared death experience: I first looked for the sun, but found nothing that provided a light source for the daylight conditions. I then looked across the river, to see such an amazing world of mountains, trees, waterfalls, exotic flowers. Everywhere was green, green, green! It looked like our own natural world, but on steroids. There was so much life with colors, textures, light, and smells that were all in a state of absolute perfection and abundance. I could scarcely take it in.
4) NDE due to severe illness: Running through the trees was something that looked like a cross between a Yak and an Orangutan - a huge muscular animal charging quickly by itself through the wild. I'm then shown more and more other places, some remarkable and some unremarkable. I realise just how huge the universe is. Earth is just a tiny part of an endless world.
5) NDE due to faint after ceasarian section delivery: This place was different. Everywhere there was lush green nature. It was a very peaceful place. I was very happy. There were green meadows and a train rail. In a distance, a train came very fast to where I was standing. The train stopped to pick me up. I wanted to get in the train and depart.
6) NDE due to bleeding out during surgery: My guide took me inside where it opened into an enormous library full of tables and lined with books. Many spirits were studying different books and my guide communicated that this hall held the Book of Life described in the Bible. We continued to a back room where some spiritual Beings were sitting in chairs that circled around a screen in the floor that was like a glass bottomed boat. They communicated that I was to watch my life and then scenes like a 3D hologram appeared. I was able to re-experience myself in all these events in my life, but just as importantly, I was able to experience the impact of my actions and words on those other people with whom I had interacted. Not one of the spirits condemned me for those painful things I had done or not done, but I felt so very sorry and sad about them within my own heart. It all seemed to happen very quickly, but had a tremendous impact on me. I got the impression that these spirit beings had been with me and had helped me plan my life before I was born. They let me know that I would be able to return to my life, if I chose to do so. Then they showed me through the same screen some future events in my life if I chose to return to it. Some events would definitely occur and some events were possible but not definite.
7) NDE while recovering from severe auto accident: My great-grandparents seemed really happy and proud to see me. My mum and my boyfriend were dressed in what they died in. I can not be sure of my great-grandparents but they looked very smart and polished. Again we didn't talk, but we communicated telepathically with our minds. My mum told me she loved me so much and for me to go home because it is not my time yet. I didn't want to leave. They looked so happy to see me and looked so peaceful. There was so much love there and I remember leaving thinking, 'I know I will see them again and I'm not scared of dying now because we will all be together.' I felt very reassured and they seemed so happy!
8) NDE due to auto accident: To my left and in a field, there were many people. I saw my grandma and her sister who had passed in the previous year. The colours were so vivid! In front of me was a medium-sized stream with a white bridge over it. Jesus was standing on the other side of the bridge. There was a huge, sunlight OBJECT shining down on his left side. But it didn't hurt me to look at it.
9) Fear-death experience at time of severe auto accident. Accident occurred two weeks prior to her sharing it: I was aware of this space that looked a lot like a NASA image of a galaxy. It looked like a white light with the spectrum of colors vibrating from it. I understood this as 'Source,' whish was a conscious knowing source. Starlights orbited around in this space in a logical pattern from the larger white-light source. I was there and made of conscious light. There were many other conscious stars, but a few of them inteacted with me. I remember communicating that this place was incredible. One of the light Beings responded, 'Yes, this is home. This is consciousness. This is source.'
10) Illness at age 14. NDE experience while in coma: I saw people walking their dogs, moms with thier pushchairs, business men holding their briefcases, etc. There were people from all walks of life. I found myself in a beautiful garden with colors so vivid. The colors were unlike any on earth. The grass was neatly cut and the hedges trimmed so perfectly. I walked along a little path, as though I were just on a little visit.
5 Terrifying Accounts of Near Death Experiences
1) NDE of a woman undergoing an operation and spending several minutes technically dead. Experience recounted by the woman’s niece: She says she floated above the operating table and saw them trying to revive her. She says she felt a pull on her and flew out through the very top of the room. She remembered very clearly floating above the light fixture on the ceiling and then there being darkness. Suddenly she found herself floating above the ground several inches just above a field of dirt. In front of her was a very large chasm, deep, very dark, she couldn't see the bottom of it from where she was. On the other side of the chasm was a beautiful field. Green grass, flowers, trees and sunlight. On her side of the chasm it was overcast and very little light, no vegetation just brown dirt. A pair of hands then reached out of the blackness and started pulling at her, almost like ripping the flesh from her legs and feet, causing horrific pain. The hands ripped at her and she felt the pain she had felt before. Finally she came to the dirt side of the chasm again. Then blackness. Then she was on the ceiling of her room in the hospital again and she saw her body spasm violently and her arm smacked the doctors arm breaking his watch, before she was eventually revived.
2) NDE of bishop and author Curtis “Earthquake” Kelley, following a drug overdose as a teenager: He felt his soul going down, because that’s where hell is. Whenever a shaman or practitioner brings a spirit up through the floor or ground, they are calling on entities from hell. He actually saw the bottom of the car the sewer pipes, dirt, and rocks under the street. “I was dragged to a place in the earth that was red and black. Then the spirits dropped me to the bottom of a floor. Demonic spirits beat me on the head and laughed as they mockingly said, “You did voodoo for us. You were a sorcerer. You sold drugs for us. We tricked you! Now you’re in hell. You can’t get out of here. You belong to us now. You are lost forever!” They continued to laugh at me, mock me, and remind me of every bad thing I had ever done. They tormented me in ways I do not want to talk about in this book.” Curtis had a total life review there in hell. He suffered at the hands of “hideous and deformed demonic spirits of every size and form.” Suddenly two golden hands appeared and grabbed him by the shoulders. With demons screaming “No! No! You can’t have him!” the hands took him back up through the earth, through the bottom of the car, and back into his body. A voice spoke to him and said, “Because of your mother’s prayers, and because you have been chosen by God, you were spared.”
3) NDE as a child due to seizure-like event at age 16: One day, I was lying on a couch at home and experienced a seizure-like event. I was foaming at the mouth and passed into another realm. I felt like I was falling into deep darkness, like a bottomless pit. In this place, there was nothing good. I was surrounded by every negative thing like sorrow, hate, disappointment, and whatever negative emotions you can imagine. Only negative things existed in this realm.
4) NDE of Veronika Barthel after she was spectacularly struck by lightning in her car: After losing consciousness, Barthel says that she found herself being roughly dragged along by demons and that all around her she could see these demons throwing people into caves or stabbing them with wicked spears. Around their feet were writhing masses of enormous snakes that seemed to carpet the ground everywhere. Barthel described the scene thus: The creatures that I saw there were more terrifying than anything I even saw in a horror movie. Today I know that they were demons. As soldiers they where marching past me, and in the middle of them were people that were screaming with pain. It was very difficult to breathe down there, because of the terrible smell of this place. I saw a lake, which looked like the inner part of a volcano, where people were cursing because of great pain.
5) NDE of Matthew Botsford, after being shot in the head, dying and resuscitating three times, and spending 27 days in a medically induced coma: Botsford claimed that at first there was pure nothingness; an unbearable void of perfect blackness, which he described as being like “thick, black ink had been poured over my eyes.” This chasm of total darkness began to slowly be illuminated by a blooming light that appeared to come from some glowing abyss below him that was belching out waves of incredible heat and noxious smoke. It was then that Botsford noticed that his hands and feet were shackled with chains and that he was suspended in midair amongst the heat and smoke by some unseen force. It was also then when he began to notice a chorus of anguished screams and unearthly shrieks pervading the air around him as if from an endless sea of tortured, oppressed people. Looking down into the dizzying pit below in a panic, he claimed that he could see strange beasts and less defined things with glowing demonic eyes wandering about, snapping and snarling. The smoke that was vomiting forth from below was also notable for the fact that each plume had framed within it a soul that writhed in torment. Throughout all of this, Botsford described the whole sinister scene as being permeated by a crushing sense of utter loneliness and despair that pierced him to the core. In addition to all of this, Botsford said that the infernal, relentless heat was starting to char and sear his flesh, and as soon as he began to believe that he would be burned down to the bone, ash, and nothingness, all of it grew back to begin the agonizing process anew. Even worse was the arrival of hideous, horned creatures with glowing oval eyes and sharp fangs, which proceeded to rip and gnaw the cooking flesh from his body and devour it, after which the flesh would again grow back. As he hung there roasting above this red, pulsing chasm of snapping beasts, and the shining eyes closed in again and again to feed, Botsford was allegedly grabbed by a giant hand and pulled away, accompanied by a booming voice that declared “It’s not your time.” When he snapped out of his coma, he realized that he was no longer in that terrible, bleak place, but rather in a hospital room with a bad headache and paralyzed on his left side.

The following written confession was shared via Reddit:
This incident occurred in '09 or '10 and at that time I was living in a small house in the oldest neighborhood in our town (all late 1800's/Turn-Of-The-Century type charm). Forgive the wordiness, but I feel it's necessary to include a little detail about my street for frame of reference. My house sat two houses from the corner and directly across the street from a small park. Right across the park from us sat my youngest son's best friend's house. It was a cute little place for a single mother with two boys and I never had any problems there, even though it was one of those neighborhoods where one block is cute as a button and the next can be a slum.
So I'd say it's about 10 o'clock on a weeknight. I'm just coming home with my sons in the backseat (roughly 12 and 7 at the time) and we're approaching the corner just ahead of my house. The intersection is a 4 way stop with the park to my left and my house two houses up on the right. As I pull up to the Stop sign we see a figure standing on the corner on the park side. He has his back to us and he appears to be an old man. He's hunched over so we can't see his head but he's frail and thin in body and wearing what look to be tan slacks pulled waaaaaay up (old man style) and a short sleeve white button down shirt tucked in. Now mind you, my headlights are shining on him and there is also a streetlight on the opposite corner, so we can see him clear as day. It's a solid figure and there is no mistaking it's a man. I'm sitting at the Stop sign and we're watching him for maybe two or three minutes and I don't want to move because he's just so damn unsettling. I don't want to go up to the house in case he follows us as I am defenseless so we just sit there at the intersection watching him.
It's not so much there is a man standing on the corner that's disturbing to me. It's the way he's moving. He's just sort of shuddering, but in a real herky-jerky sort of way. Sort of like when your cable or satellite starts to glitch and pixellate. I'm wondering if it's just me seeing this until my 12 yo whispers "What the hell?" and I look back and the boys are slack-jawed trying to figure this thing out. So then I think I'm just being stupid and it's probably just some poor old man that has dementia and wandered away and maybe he has Parkinson's tremors or something and as I am about to tell the boys I'm going to let them in the house and go back and see if he needs help, he turns around.
And here is where I do my best to describe to you what I saw because this shit is about as indescribable as it gets...it is, in fact, NOT an old man. He turns around quickly, faster than I can register, but still kind of in a stunted manner. I know that probably doesn't make much sense. He has a full head of reddish brown hair parted in the middle. He's thin and he is in fact wearing slacks pulled all the way up and a button down shirt, much like a stereotypical image of a nerd, minus the pocket protector. Like I said, he isn't old but I can't say how I know this because it's like his face isn't...finished. He looks right at us but with indiscernible eyes. I think the best way to describe it is, it's like if someone painted his face in watercolor and then smeared it down and at an angle, but I can still make out some expression of shock or surprise on that face. The boys and I all scream and jump back in our seats and then he spins back around again in that jerky stunted way and takes off in a sprint, faster than I have ever seen anyone move, away from us and as he's running he begins to sort of, I don't know, dematerialize? From the feet up he just sort of ceases to exist and then he's gone.
Like I said, we were looking at full and very solid form. And he just sort of blinked out. Can anyone tell me if they have any idea, what the f*** was that?

The phrase “orange eyes” makes an appearance in Episode 122: Secret Military Enochian Technology as a an eerie and unidentified pack of figures with orange eyes! Although today’s Creature Feature Friday is not the same type of strange entity (we just couldn’t pass up the show plug!), ORANGE EYES is still a creepy, formidable mystery. Check out these 5 details about the monster known as Orange Eyes:
1) The aptly named Orange Eyes is a rare, gigantic, orange-eyed hominid monster that has been spotted in Ohio several times since the late 1950s.
2) Bearing a likeness to an enormous Sasquatch, a number of eyewitnesses have reported seeing this 11-foot-tall ape-like creature, who weighs close to 1,000 pounds. Whatever he is, Orange Eyes is a big brute.
3) Much like the plot of a B-movie horror flick, Orange Eyes is believed to have originally lived under a cemetery, and began his reign of terror in 1959 when he attacked two teenagers who were cuddled up on Lover's Lane. (Yes, that is actually the name of the road in Ohio where Orange Eyes first appeared.)
4) Though he has remained a famous mystery for decades, Orange Eyes has not been glimpsed since 1991 when he scared the waders off a pair of anglers fishing near Willis Creek. Which is a good thing, because he sounds huge and terrifying.
5) Since every story has its skeptics, there are some who claim that Orange Eyes is, in fact, nothing more than a fanatical hermit living in the woods. To create the illusion of Orange Eyes, they surmise the hermit has a stick on which he’s nailed two orange bike reflectors, which he logically waves around as he runs through the trees. If that is in fact the case, then the hermit 1) has been successfully fooling locals with bike reflectors for over 50 years, and 2) really needs a new hobby; has he even heard of Fortnite?
The world has over 6,000 languages, but how often have you heard Enochian? The Enochian language is a researched but still mysterious form of communication allegedly handed down from the angels themselves. Named for the biblical figure Enoch, the Enochian language has become a means of magic for the world of the Occult, although its validity has come into question over the years.
Recently the Enochian language became a hot topic on The Confessionals, as a guest shared their experience discovering the language while on a secret military mission aboard a peculiar, checkerboard-patterned aircraft. (Take a listen to Episode 122: Secret Military Enochian Language to hear his unsettling account.) So how did the Enochian language develop, and does it still have relevance? Here are 10 historical facts that shed light on this alternately angelic and satanic language:
1) Enochian is an occult or angelic language that was recorded in the private journals of John Dee and his colleague Edward Kelley in late 16th-century England. Dee was a man of science-turned-magic seeker, and Kelley was a spirit medium who worked with Dee in his magical investigations. The men claimed that the mystical language was revealed to them by the Enochian angels. It is also referred to as Celestial Speech, Angelical, The First Language of God-Christ, and Adamical, because they believed it was the language first used by Adam and Eve - perhaps even the language God used to speak everything into being.
2) Dr. John Dee, born in 1527, was an occultist, mathematician, astronomer, astrologer, and advisor to Queen Elizabeth I who originally had little interest in the supernatural. Later on in his career, he became disillusioned with science and began experimenting with the occult. He believed he could recover lost spiritual wisdom in books of antiquity, among them the Book of Enoch.
3) The term Enochian comes from the Biblical figure Enoch. According to the Bible, Enoch lived 365 years before being taken up to Heaven - without dying. Genesis 5:24 says that he “walked with God” and Hebrews 11:5 states he “was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death.” He is one of two biblical figures, the other being the prophet Elijah, who left the Earth in this undead manner. John Dee believed Enoch was the last human to have known and used the language of angels.
4) In 1581, John Dee wrote in his personal journal that God had sent “Good Angels” to communicate directly with mankind. By the following year he was collaborating with seer and scryer Edward Kelley to communicate with these angels. They recorded hundreds of spirit conversations in their journals, including what they claimed was an angelic language called Enochian. composed of non-English letters, but bears very similar syntax and grammar to that of the English language.
5) According to Dee and Kelley, The Enochian Alphabet was revealed to them during their “scrying sessions”, when various texts and tables were received from angels. Scrying is a technique used by seers, psychics, and sorcerers to foretell the future and involves gazing into a reflective surface to supernaturally receive messages from other entities.
6) There are two different versions of the Enochian Alphabet, with one script differing slightly from the other. The first version is found in Dee’s own journals, and the second, which is generally the more accepted version, is in the book Liber Loagaeth, which features Kelley’s original drawings of the Alphabet. Though Enochian is composed of non-English letters, it bears very similar syntax and grammar to that of the English language. The Enochian letters do have English letter equivalents, but some letters are pronounced the same as in English while others are not. Computer analysis has also shown Enochian to have a grammatical relationship to English. Unlike English, however, the Enochian script is written from right to left.
7) Due to the loss of parts of John Dee’s original manuscripts over the decades, the meaning, validity, and authenticity behind the Enochian language has been called into question. There at some magicians that believe it to really be the oldest language in the world, predating all other human languages. Some circles consider it among the most powerful strains of magic and methods of contacting intelligences from other dimensions. Disbelievers in either magic or Enochian itself contest that the foundation of Enochian is so close to that of Dee and Kelley’s native English language that is it surely their own, and not a divine, invention. A number of linguists who studied it have noted discrepancies in Enochian that reveal it is not a consistent language.
8) More modern day occultists have also found it difficult to reconstruct the Enochian system, although progress has been made by studying the original manuscripts found in the Sir Hans Sloane collection. From these studies, there have emerged individuals and groups who have created a functional system of magic, including occultists like the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, Aleister Crowley, and founder of the church of Satan, Anton LaVey, who have used and popularized the Enochian language to certain extents.
9) In pop culture, the 1994 movie Stargate incorporated Enochian letters as the glyphs used to operate the arc angle. The Stargate film also focuses heavily on interstellar teleportation and ancient Egyptian culture. Interestingly, the movie debuted one year before the United States remote viewing program, known as “Stargate”, became public.
10) Another aspect of modern Enochian magic is Enochian chess. Enochian chess is both a game and a divination tool, derived from the original tablets of John Dee. It is a complex system that requires a strong foundation in the study of the Qabalah, Geomancy, Tarot, Alchemy, and Astrology. Chess, a game of ancient origins, has a debatably occult-related subtext as an elaborate and interconnected system of coded messages for those who are trained in its interpretation. With this knowledge, it is even more interesting for us to note how in Episode 122, the guest describes the outside of the aircraft, in which he discovered the Enochian language in use, to be designed with a black checkerboard pattern. Was the outside of the aircraft itself a form of communication or identification for someone (or something) familiar with the Enochian system? For now the answer remains as mysterious as Enochian itself.

They say time is relative. Are space, dimension, and reality relative as well? From suddenly stepping into a time long past, to losing hours of unaccounted time, to changing locations in the blink of an eye and returning to places that no longer exist, these 15 creepy accounts of time slips, lost time, and shifting realities may have you questioning the corporeality of our present existence:
Falling Asleep in the Family Tent, Waking Alone in the Woods
This happened to me when I was little. I went camping with my older brother and my mom. I was about 7 or 8, and I went to bed around 10pm in a sleeping bag inside my tent with both my mom and brother. Some time during the night, I don’t know when, I woke up somewhere in the middle of the woods still in my sleeping bag. I had no idea where I was or where my tent was. I screamed for my mom and I heard her calling back for me in panic, but she was easily 100 yards away or so. To this day, I have no idea how I ended up in the middle of the woods still inside my sleeping bag. Gives me the chills…
Runner Spends Days Lost Texas
I used to live in Texas and, being a runner, would often seek out wooded paths to run. One summer day–Friday, I believe–I went for a run in the evening (6pm) through a local park with a paved path through the woods. Everything started fine. The winds were picking up and a storm was approaching, but I thought I could finish the run before the rains hit. And then… I wake up and it’s the middle of the night and I’m stumbling around off trail, in the woods.
I spend what felt like forever crawling around because I was so tired and dizzy, trying to find something to drink to slake my thirst. Not finding anything, I vaguely recall eating snails and insects to try to get some moisture. I eventually find my way back to the path, where a guy comes by and calls for help. I actually was missing for two nights and ended up with extreme dehydration. Doctors don’t think I would have made it another day. It turns out I was no more than a half mile from the path, but was too disoriented to figure that out. And the cover was too thick for the search parties to find me. I don’t remember much of anything that happened after I started my run. And no one has any idea as to what happened.
Two Women Experience Two Simultaneous Realities
This lady and her stepdaughter were crossing a busy street with many lanes, and as they entered the final lane before reaching the other side, they realized they were going to be struck by a car. But instead of the car hitting them, they both wound up automatically on the other side of the road.
Then they appeared to have “hallucinated”, seeing themselves as though the vehicle had struck them. She can even describe the interior of the ambulance that she was transported in, and apparently later died in, even though she has never been in an ambulance before.
Both experienced this. She says she wakes up every day unsure if she’s living in a dream.
As I heard this story 15 years ago, it will not be 100 percent accurate. And it apparently happened another 20 years before I first heard it.
I’m usually a little skeptical but this has come from someone who is not an attention-seeker…
A New Arrest is Old News
This one hit a little closer to home. And I'm still questioning my sanity/memory. This evening my friend K. texted me that a former student of mine had been arrested for a certain misdemeanor. It was a real surprise to both of us, who'd have never expected such a thing from this particular student. We texted back and forth a few minutes, and this was while I was in Austin with my husband. We had just finished up at one place and were heading to another when K. and I were texting. I said nothing to my husband until a few hours later at a friend's house when the general subject of crime came up. I turned to, my husband and said, "Oh, yeah, one of my [identifier] students --" before I could finish, he said, "I know; he [insert specific crime]."
"How did you know?" I asked.
"You told me," he said.
I tried to explain I had only just learned about this, even showing him K's text. He insisted that not only had I told him last week, but the two of us had even gone online to see if it had made the news yet. He even knew that it had happened in the very location that it had happened -- a detail he couldn't have guessed at. He said we did this search from his office in his study.
We haven't found any trace of our alleged online search on any of our computers. I have no idea where this memory of his comes from. I only know that if I HAD known about the incident, I'd have told K. before going home and telling my husband. The fact that she was the one that told me proves to me I didn't know until then. Furthermore, I wouldn't have known about the incident UNTIL it made the news.
Stationery Moment in Time -
Man Buys Envelopes from Victorian-Era Shop Clerk
-From "The Directory of Possibilities," edited by Colin Wilson and John Grant, published 1981 by Webb & Bower
In "The Mask of Time," Joan Forman has described many timeslips. Perhaps the oddest concerns a Mr. Squirrel, who in 1973 went into a stationer's shop in Great Yarmouth to buy some envelopes. He was served by a woman in Edwardian dress and bought three dozen envelopes for a shilling. He noticed that the building was extremely silent -- there was no traffic noise. On visiting the shop three weeks later, he found it completely changed and modernized; the assistant, an elderly lady, denied that there had been any other assistant in the shop the previous week.
The envelopes disintegrated very quickly. Forman heard of the case and interviewed Squirrel; he was able to produce for her one of the remaining envelopes. Forman wrote to the manufacturers, who said that such envelopes had ceased to be manufactured 15 years before.
Man Finds Out That Acquaintance Died… Twice
Here goes, truly the strangest experience I ever had. A little background, I had recently moved in with some friends after losing a very well paying job. I was working as an asst. manager at a little country seafood restaurant at the time of this event and I spent a lot of time walking and meditating. And I mean sometimes 5-6 hours a day walking, through woods and around the rural areas on the outskirts of my home town.
I will give you the sequence of events as I experienced them. I kept a journal at the time.. I get to work, Wednesday evening and begin getting everything ready to open. Right before opening, an officer anon comes to the door and rings the bell, restaurant is set up in an old colonial style house, I let him in, and set him up and made small talk. I asked where his partner was, they usually come in together.
He tells me officer anon 2 passed away the night before, stroke in his driveway. As a teen, I had some interesting encounters with this officer. Me, black trans am, pot and rock and roll and him-hard nosed county sheriff. So, it affected me enough to write about it in my journal and tell the owner of the restaurant about it.
Thursday passes with no incident.
Friday, I turn the corner entering the front room at the restaurant and low and behold, officers anon 1 and 2 are sitting there waiting to be set up. I look like I'm seeing a ghost!!! Officer anon 2 ask if I'm ok, and I say I heard you were dead!! He says well no one told me, and laughs it off. Now I'm thinking his friend must have played a sick joke on me, so I go back and confront officer anon 1 and he denies ever saying anything. I ask my boss if he remembered me telling him about it, he says no.
I go home and check my journal, there it is in Wednesdays journal entry. Ok, I'm a little freaked out.
Saturday evening, at work, officer anon 1 comes in alone, i ask where's your partner? He proceeds to tell me officer anon 2 passed away friday night after leaving the restaurant, stroke, in his car, in his driveway. Has no recollection of me confronting him. Boss has no recollection of anything weird.
Monday, check the obit. He died friday evening. Had to hold my journal next to the paper just to really get a grasp on what happened!!
Baby Monitor Time Warp
As usual, the long work day was coming to an end and I was dutifully putting the last load of laundered clothes away in our bedroom when I heard a ruckus on the baby monitor just a few feet away from me. I thought it strange when I knew my husband and toddler were both in the living room quietly watching TV as my two-year-old drifted silently off to sleep curled in my husband's lap as he caught the evening news.
The bedroom door was straight in front of me and I could see all the way down the hall to my husband and son in the Lazyboy chair as this ruckus over the monitor continued.
It didn't take long for me to realize the sounds were very familiar. Earlier in the day, I was in my toddler's bedroom putting a load of folded clothes into the drawers and picked up some stray toys and books that weren't being played with at the time. As I was doing so, I was telling my son about the story of "Jack and The Beanstalk" for the first time.
Now I stood in disbelief as I heard the drawers being pulled open and shut and rustling of the toys and books being put into their proper places. But I nearly fainted when I heard my son's voice over the monitor! I kept looking back and forth at my husband and now-sleeping son in the chair in the living room and the monitor sitting on my dresser that was literally replaying the specific events from earlier in the day!
The monitor is a standard baby monitor bought from Wal-mart and is NOT a recorder, but instead monitors the sounds coming from the room as they are happening at present time only.
I listened as my voice retold the story of "Jack and The Beanstalk" and listened with familiarity as my son responded in baby-talk to the tail he had never heard before. The incredible part was this all happened five hours earlier on the same day!
I quickly called my husband into the room as he listened to the last part of the story with my voice coming through the monitor and our sons coos and chuckles. He stood stunned and turned his head and looked at our sleeping son flopped peacefully over his shoulder. In disbelief, he asked, "How in the hell...?!" as his voice drifted off trying not to miss a thing. I just stared at him in the same disbelief and we both just shook our heads.
This has never happened before or since and became pretty clear from the beginning that we were listening to some kind of warp in time. I never imagined in a million years that I would be witness to it and must admit, if it should happen to you, it is indeed, one of the most incredible moments one can ever experience!
Returning to the House That Wasn’t There
I swear this is a true story. My husband was carting wheat in the summer of 1994. He was outside Molong in NSW, Australia, and drove past a "For Sale" sign on a farm gate along with the agents details. Our 12-year-old son was with him. On the return journey, they stopped, climbed through the fence and walked up the circle-shaped drive to have a closer look at the old house. He said he could see through the window and found the old house old and abandoned.
On his return home a few days later, we rang up the agent and asked for further details about the property, as we were interested in purchasing it. The agent had no idea what we were talking about and insisted that he had no properties for sale on that road. A week later, my husband and I drove to Molong to have a look at the farm ourselves. We drove up and down the whole road until we were almost to the next town. All that he could recognize was a water tank on the hill, a creek and some trees where the house used to be. There was no gate, drive, real estate sign... or house.
Children of London Time Slip
I live in London and it was late October, 1969, and I was walking home late one Saturday night. I had to walk through an underpass, which was under the busy North Circular Road. It was cold and late and I was surprised to see about five kids down there collecting pennies for the Guy, being as firework night, 5th November, was soon. These kids should not have been out that late, seeing as the oldest was a girl aged about 12 years old and the others younger.
What shocked me were their clothes. Their attire made me think they had come straight out of 1920s or 1930s London. Their speech could have been taken straight from a Charles Dickens' novel. I heard one young boy say, "That other gent gave me a florin." At his age there is no way he could have known what a florin was, an old English coin for the then two shillings.
This was the late 1960s and kids certainly didn't use words like "gent" anymore. "Geezer" or "bloke" perhaps.
The girl approached me saying, "Evening sir, penny for the Guy, please, sir?" Her politeness shocked me, but I said I hadn't any money. She slid her arm through mine and she ran her hand down my sleeve saying, "Yes you do, sir. You are a fine gent. You do have money." I assured her I hadn't and I expected a rude mouthful, but she replied, "Ok, thank you, sir. You have a good evening, sir."
I knew I had to give these kids something, so I pulled a silver sixpence from my pocket and called her. I threw her the coin and she gave me a thank you and a beaming smile. I walked off into the night.
This experience bugged me bad. Who were those kids from the past? I asked local people if any kids were killed there during WW2, but nobody remembered. Did I meet ghosts? Kids from the past? I guess I will never know.
Lost Time At a Creepy Home in Ohio
This story takes place in Austintown, Ohio on Route 76 back in 1981. I was 20. Dad asked me if I wanted to look at a house that was for rent. The next morning we went to his mom's house at 5:00 for some coffee. She asked what we were doing out so early. Dad told her that we were meeting a realtor at at 6:00. At 5:30, we left getting to the house a couple minutes before 6.
As we pulled in the drive, we noticed the yard had not been cared for. The house was a rectangular two-story dwelling with front windows only on the second floor. As we got out of the van, it was a quiet, calm day except for two kids laughing in the back yard. We figured it was the neighbor kids from across the street. As we approached the back of the house, there was a swing set with two swings. They were swinging in opposite directions with nobody on them. There was laughter of a boy and a girl. Another quick glance and the swings were still. Dad asked if I had seen that. I had.
We proceeded back to the side of the house. We passed the garage. It had two wooden doors with small glass panes. We looked in the window. The garage had a dirt floor and was empty. We walked up to the side porch. The door was unlocked so we went inside.
Dad turned on the switch, but no lights came on. I tried a few with no luck. The inside of the house was weird. There was a large room with doorways branching off. The living room was like none I had ever seen. It was about 10x40 with no windows except for the small one in the door. I went back into where dad was. He was trying to open the basement door, which was locked. Dad asked if I was ready to go. Instead of leaving, he went into the living room and stared out the front door window for about three or four minutes. I was about to go upstairs when I got an eerie feeling. So, I stayed in the main area.
Dad then came out and asked if I was ready to go again. At that point, dad made the remark that we hadn't tried that door. We had. It was the locked basement door. He turned the knob and the door opened. The hair on the back of my kneck stood up. Now I was getting scared. Dad flipped the light switch and it came on. I was wondering why the other lights didn't come on earlier. Dad proceeded to go down the steps, but I was leary. I went down. The basement was small. There was an old wringer washer with a loaded revolver on the lid. It was like the silver and ivory-handled cap guns that kids use today. I picked it up four inches off the lid and out of the corner of my eye, I saw a light cord moving. The lights went out and the door slammed shut. It was so dark you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. I felt aimlessly for my dad. Holding his shirt, we went up the stairs. At the top, he stopped and let out a blood-curdling scream. It made my blood run cold. I pushed him and he pushed the door open. All the lights were on and it was dark outside.
After jumping in the van, dad turned the headlights on. The garage doors were open. There was a lamb lying on the dirt floor with its throat slashed, jerking violently. Blood was running into the dirt.
When we arrived back at my grandmother's, it was 2:30 a.m. She asked where we had been all day. We had lost 21 hours in five minutes time in the basement. Later, we drove past the house and all the doors were shut and the lights were out. When I would ask dad about what he had seen, he would cuddle in the corner and shake like a kid crying. To this day, I don't know what he saw and I don't want to know. Since he has passed away, I will never know.
When I went back in 1987, to see if the house was still there, it was boarded up. There was a large FBI sign on the house stating that for your own safety, stay out.
Spatial Shift in the Blink of an Eye
This happened in 1986 in New York on the road between White Plains and the Throgs Neck Bridge. I was travelling the road one afternoon on my way home from White Plains to Bayside, Queens. The journey required me to travel the Hutchinson River Parkway, pay a 25-cent toll, and cross the Throgs Neck Bridge.
The road before the entrance to the Hutchinson River Parkway was confusing. It was easy to miss the exit. I remember nervously looking at the 25 cents on the tray of my Volvo, wishing the toll would come sooner than it did so I could be on my way.
That is when I missed the exit. I travelled about half a mile beyond it, and then in a panic, I decided to back up on the highway and see if I could get the exit after all. I backed up with oncoming traffic behind me, swerving the car to the shoulder to make the exit amid beeping and skidding, but I attained the exit with no damage.
Just as I reached the Hutchinson River Parkway and got on it, I heard the siren. It was a highway patrol car coming after me. I figured he witnessed my crazy driving move.
As I pulled over, I looked in the rear view mirror. The policeman that was getting out of the patrol car was the scariest one I had ever seen. Never mind the boots and the hat and the sunglasses, he just looked completely mean. I looked down at my lap and said out loud, "Dear God, I'd rather be anywhere but here."
I went into my pocketbook to get my license, and when I looked up, my car and I were sitting on the side of the entrance to the Throgs Neck Bridge -- well beyond the Hutchinson River Parkway, which I hadn't driven yet. The 25 cent toll was still on the tray in my car.
I had this funny feeling that I was frozen and I did feel stiff, so I flexed my wrists, rubbed my eyes and looked again. I was still on the entrance to the bridge -- a good 20 miles beyond the Hutchinson River Parkway. In order for this to happen, my car and I would have had to have been lifted in the air and placed back down 20 miles up the road.
After sitting for about 20 minutes in shock, I put the car in gear and drove over the bridge. Just beyond the bridge was my neighborhood. I always wondered what the cop saw. Did he see me vanish? Did it just "un-happen" for him? I will never know.
This happened 2 years ago, but I'm just putting it all on paper now. I'll try to keep this a brief as possible.
In 2013 I was a senior at NYU in New York City. I was born in New York, but moved to Florida around 4 years old after my father died in a train wreck. He was also born in New York, lived there his whole life, and became a successful doctor with a practice in the Empire State Building. New York always felt like 'my town', in part because it was his town. He loved this place, and so would I.
In November, I was walking around the campus near Washington Square Park. I'm walking with my girlfriend when I see a man from behind. There was a familiarity about him, and my interest was peaked.
I sometimes day dreamed about what it would be like if my father weren't actually dead, and were still somehow alive. And how it would be to see him again.
I was curious to see just how familiar this man looked, so I caught up to him and threw a glance behind me.
He was a dead ringer for my dad.
5'7'', handsome, bright-eyed. His clothing was a bit dated, but I didn't think anything of it at the time.
I slowed down and he caught me looking. He was staring straight into my eyes. It was my dad.
I didn't know what to say. Dad? David? Mr. Greenwald? Name. Good place to start. I asked him for his.
"David. Can I help you?"
Now I'm starting to freak out. I'm looking directly at his face, studying it. Was my memory playing tricks on me? Was I losing my mind? I looked at my girlfriend wild-eyed, and could see she was starting to catch on. She knew what my dad looked like from photos, plus the PBS documentary about him I made her watch. Her neck was sticking out at a weird angle.
I threw a barrage of questions in his direction. What do you do...Where are you from...What year is it...
Now I'm shaking. I start yelling at my girlfriend. Get your phone out! Record this! Get Photos! I wanted proof. I wanted something else to show me this was real.
"I have to go."
He starts to walk away. I felt the moment slipping away.
"Dad! Do NOT ride the train. DO NOT RIDE THE TRAIN."
I didn't know what else to say. I turn to grab the phone out of my girlfriend's hand and when I turn back he's gone. Vanished. Like he wasn't there at all.
I asked my girlfriend what happened to him, but she was looking away too.
I ran to the corner and looked around like a crazed mad-man. Nothing.
After this incident, I was sick for days. I couldn't focus on anything. I didn't know what to do, who to tell, what to think.
Then I remembered his diary which I keep. I've never read it, out of respect for his privacy, but it was his and so I take care of it.
You can guess what happened next. I went to 1985, November, and started reading entries. His handwriting was hard to read - he was a doctor after all - but I did my best and I found it.
"Walking to Elsa's when [illegible] the street in strange clothes stops me [illegible] questions [illegible] Told me not to ride the train. Pleaded, really. Scared me half to death [illegible] disappearing. Note to self: Consider carrying mace for future crazies.
What am I supposed to think about that? What am I supposed to think about anything? I heard once that time is like a fabric, something that can fold on itself. A piece of 'cloth' rubs up against another piece and there's a bridge.
I stood on that bridge and looked into 1985.
People ask me why I walk home from work every day. All 30 blocks. Now you know why. If the fabric folds again I want to be there.
A number of years ago, I moved to a small town in northeast Missouri. I was moving in with my stepmom and dad. My stepmom, Jolela, had had a couple of strokes and was now legally blind. She was refusing to move into a nursing home, and my dad was a truck driver at the time. I was also going through a divorce, so I needed a change of scenery. I had only been to the house sporadically prior to moving in with them, so I had never had any of the experiences I had after having moved in. At first, it was simple little stuff, noises, such as if someone was walking around upstairs, although it was only a one-story house. Or cooking smells, such as a roast, or fried chicken, even though it would only be like 11 am, and I had not done much more than a simple breakfast that day. Also, I was the only one smelling them!
But I do believe my scariest moment was the vision I had while gardening one morning. I was on my hands and knees in the garden doing some weeding when suddenly, the quiet morning was exploding with noise, I looked up, and all around me were bodies, people yelling for a doctor, or their mother, people were just everywhere. About two miles down the road was a complete battle, I felt as if I was in the middle of the civil war, and it was in my front yard! I looked down, and as I did, it went silent again, I looked up, and I was back in my time. My house was there, my neighbors, my garden, and the blessed silence. I knew that I had fallen through a time slip. I was shaking badly, although the vision only lasted mere seconds, I will never forget the sounds and smells. Oh God, the smell, blood and rotting flesh, I hope you never smell that, it’s the worst. That night, the dreams, well really nightmares, began.
When my dad was home that weekend, I asked him about the house’s history. He said that the house had been built in 1918, when it faced the other way, at the time, 2nd Street didn’t exist yet. Although today our front door faces 2nd Street, our driveway is off Beech Street. Our backdoor is on the south side of the house, but the driveway is on the north side. He said that the house at the time, the kitchen was more of a sitting room, with a doorway where the bathroom is now. During the fifties, there was a fire, and quite a bit of the south side of the house was lost, instead of rebuilding, they just remodeled into a smaller house.
He also mentioned that prior to the house, there was a hospital, before the property was split into lots.
“A hospital?” I asked “Yeah, it was begun during the Civil War. One of the battles was fought about two or three miles south of here, down towards Mexico Road.” I think I swallowed my own tongue about this time. “Yeah, they built a hospital and POW Camp here during the Civil War. It ran from 4th street (2 blocks east of us) to 1st Street (1 block west of us and now the main drag), and from Morris Street to Beech Street. At the time, it wasn’t split into all these lots and streets. 1st Street was Water Street, and Morris Street was the main drag that ran from Mexico Road to Hannibal Road. I believe the hospital was torn down in about 1910 or somewhere there, but I don’t know why, I know that a Dr. Mulder had a hospital over on the west side of town by then, so he may have just simply moved it over there. Why do you want to know about the house?” “Oh, you know me,” I said offhandedly, “like you, I love history, and was wondering about the house.” Our property was a Civil War hospital. OH MY GOD. I had been having dreams ever since the vision. One dream that I had, well it was the night before my dad told me about the history, and now it makes so much more sense. In that dream, I had been in battle, I was shooting a gun, and then suddenly, a man’s voice was yelling halt. He told us to stand down, and then we were being gathered together, and hand over our weapons to another group of people. I had tears coming down my face, I knew that we were giving up. We had to walk for about ten miles, then we came to an area that had two or three clapboard houses, and there was a field that was filled with tents. I was guided to a tent, my buddy and I were sent in. There were only a few blankets and some rations in there. We both ate the rations, as that had been the only thing we had eaten for two days. Then we later regretted having eaten it all, as it was going to be another day before we got any more food. I remember one scene a bugle had blown, and we had to stand outside our tent and be inspected. After that, the dream goes hazy, and then I woke up.
That night, I had another dream. I was just me this time, I was walking through the battlefield, I was invisible. I could even walk through people. About the spot where my house today is, was a three-story clapboard house. I looked around, there were many tents as far as the eye could see, near me was a young boy, he could not have been more than 16 or 17. His arm was in a sling, he was laying on a blanket, and he was crying. I walked closer to him, and he looked up at me.
“I can see you, I’m not supposed to, but I can,” he said. “I am going to die here, my name is Samuel Bennett, I am from Ohio. My father’s name is Martin, my mother’s name is Phoebe. Please find them, and tell my family that I did not die in vain.” He then turned his head away from me. I continued to walk, no one else saw me. I walked through the hospital and investigated as much of the hospital as I could. Again, I reiterate, please, I hope you never smell the smell of rotting flesh. About the area where my garden is today, I saw two men digging what I thought was graves, but when I investigated closer, I realized they had dug a hole about 12 feet down, and 12 feet wide. They were throwing rotting limbs into it. Cut off legs, arms, feet, hands. That is where the rotting smell comes from, my garden, I swore from that day forward, I would move the garden.
Hi, this is the first time I have written in with anything but I specifically joined up to see if there was anything on here relating to my experience, there wasn’t so I’d love to hear what others say on this. I am still quite freaked out by this so I’ll do my best to set the scene a little bit.
I recently left my job and have been unemployed for about a month. I went to an interview on Thursday last week for a job I really wanted, and they rang back on Friday morning to offer me the job. I was so happy and decided to go to the Tesco to get some nice food to celebrate.
So anyway I walked out of the shop and set off walking home but I noticed someone staring at me out of the corner of my eye about 10m in front of me. I looked over and there was indeed someone staring back. The guy was identical to me, in every way, even down to the slightly pronounced underbite which is quite recognisable. And he looked terrified as he looked at me. As I met his eyes I immediately started feeling extremely nauseous and my hearing a thumping in my ears like I was about to pass out or something. I remember not being able to hear anything during this point as well apart from the thumping.
So then, the guy turns away and walks into a side street and out of sight. The weird thing was that as soon as he broke the gaze I felt better straight away, like someone that was sitting on my chest just got off. So I carried on walking in that direction towards that side street and looked up it and the guy was sprinting – full on hell for leather sprinting – down the street away from the corner in which I saw him. The guy was dressed in a nice suit with an open collar black shirt and it was weird to see him running in that gear.
I spoke to friends as soon as I got back and they told me that the area of Liverpool centre where I saw the person has been known to have something called time-slips which can be explained with this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4782MavWl4. But this wasn’t the same as the other experiences described in that video, this guy was the same age approx. in the same style suit that would be worn today.
Shoplifter in Liverpool Escapes Into a Different Decade
The year is 2006 and Sean a 19 year old drug is caught shoplifting and is being persecuted by the security guard down Hanover street in the city´s center. Sean turn into a street and soon discovers it´s a dead end. He is now out of breath and expects the security guard to turn into the street and get him any moment, but he keeps running hoping he will find a way to escape. Sean starts to feel a strange pain on his nape; he feels the ambiance around him has changed and realizes that there is no security guard after him anymore. “Probably he gave up running after me” thought Sean.
Sean gets back on Hanover street but everything looks different. The pavement, colors and overall lighting is different and all cars are from the 1960´s. The roadworks he had seen a few minutes before had disappeared. People are all dressed in a more formal and old-fashioned way and stare at him. Sean gets to Bold street and notices traffic lights in places where they should not be and bushes and a small park he had never seen before next to the Lyceum building. He also notices a bar he knows but although the name is the same the signpost is different.
He keeps walking without a plan of action in a very confused state and eventually starts entering into panic. The only way he can explain all this is that he has a experienced a timeslip into the past. He has already been in the past for some minutes, and worries that he will be stuck there and never return. The thought of his friends and loved ones reminds him of his mobile phone. He gets his mobile out but he has no signal.
When he passes in front of a newspaper kiosk on Ranelagh street next to the central station he goes and has a look at the date on the newspaper. It was Thursday the 18th of May of 1967. He had gone back 39 years. He continues his walk and finds himself on Bold street. When outside a jewelry store (H. Samuel), he enters; the store´s interior is back to the present time; he picks his mobile and this time is relieved to see that he has coverage. Looking outside of the store windows everything is still in the past. When Sean gets out of the store everything suddenly returns back to the present time. Relieved, he only wants to go home and hurries to the bus stop.
The journalist discovered that the descriptions given by Sean are accurate and correspond to how Liverpool looked in the sixties. When investigating further it was discovered that the security guard chasing Sean declared to the police that the young man just vanished in thin air.

Which of these strange stories creeps you out the most? Share with us in the comments!
April 7 through 13 is National Library Week in the US, and we’re honoring the occasion by bringing you ghost stories from haunted libraries all around the world! Much like the iconic library scene in the movie Ghostbusters, these literary atheneums are stacked with creepy ghosts, shadow figures, and paranormal activity. Not only do we love tales of the paranormal, we also think circulation of some library appreciation is long overdue, so please check out these 7 haunted libraries around the world before we reference another bad library pun!
7) STATE LIBRARY OF VICTORIA - MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA
Dating back to 1854, there’s no surprise that Melbourne’s State Library of Victoria has more than a few resident ghosts. The Arts section of the library is reportedly home to the ghost of a former librarian named Grace. Said to be a benevolent elderly spirit, she continues to keep an eye on the place and make sure that a more confronting spectre, who roams the southern end of the closed Arts stack, stays in his place. The Music room is frequented by a nattily-dressed mustachioed ghost who is known to leave music books out of place after he is finished perusing them. The ghost stories of the State Library are so numerous that many clairvoyants have been brought in, and Melbourne’s Haunted Bookshop owner Drew Stinton is keen to get the building included on the city’s tour of haunted locales. - From The Paperblanks Blog
6) COMBERMERE ABBEY LIBRARY - CHESHIRE, ENGLAND
The library at Combermere Abbey, near Cheshire, England, is said to be haunted. The ghost is rumored to be Lord Combermere himself, who died in 1891 after being run over by a horse-drawn carriage. After members of the Abbey staff reported possible ghost sightings and other paranormal activity, a photographer set up a camera in the library. The camera's shutter was left open for one hour.
The staff could claim no involvement with the photo-taking, as they were all at Lord Combermere's funeral, which took place four miles from his home. And yet, when the plate was developed, a ghostly image appeared, seated in the Lord's favorite chair.
5) PEORIA PUBLIC LIBRARY - PEORIA, ILLINOIS
Long before the Peoria Public Library was ever built in Peoria, IL, a house stood on its site. In the 1830s, a Mrs. Gray owned the home, but fell upon hard times and could not pay her mortgage. The bank foreclosed, and she was forced to leave. But before she did, Mrs. Gray is said to have put a curse on the propertyand anyone who would ever own it. Whether it was her curse or just coincidental bad luck, each subsequent owner experienced a sinking of their fortunes.
The library was built in 1894 on land that was once part of Mrs. Gray's estate. That's when truly creepy things began to happen. Each of the first three library directors suffered mysterious deaths. The original library was torn down in 1966 and replaced with a new structure, but the eerie occurrences continued. Staff have reported hearing ghostly voices calling out their names, and feeling the temperature drop to chilling degrees. Some also claim to have seen the ghostly figure of one of the dead library directors. - From Ranker
4) THE AFRICANA LIBRARY - KIMBERLY, SOUTH AFRICA
The Africana Library in Kimberly, South Africa is said to be haunted by the spirit of a man who once worked there. The library was built in 1882, but it wasn't until the early 1900s that the city was able to hire a credentialed librarian. His name was Bertrand Dyer, and while he was qualified for the prestigious position, he soon began to engage in a type of fraud. He would place orders for books, but inflate the price list presented to the city for payment. Dyer pocketed the extra cash.
But his scam was discovered, and Dyer was so ashamed that he decided to commit suicide. He took cyanide, but it did not have the immediate desired effect. He suffered in great pain for three days before succumbing in the library where he worked.
The library is now a museum, and visitors have reported seeing the ghost of a man in Edwardian attire, floating up and down the halls of the building. Some have observed him rearranging books on their shelves. Others claim that if they are having trouble locating a particular book, Dyer will help out by knocking it off the shelf. - From Ranker
3) BELLWOOD ELEMENTARY LIBRARY - BELLWOOD, NEBRASKA
Why is it that one of the creepiest-sounding apparitions appears at the library with the most innocent patrons? Bellwood School District was founded in Bellwood, Nebraska in 1880. Students at the elementary school need to walk quietly through its library stacks, so as not to disturb the ghost of a severely burned woman who reportedly haunts the building, often seen staring out of windows in anger or despair. The library seems to be the site of other paranormal activity too, including scary noises, unexplained sudden cold spots, and the sound of jingling keys. At night, hopefully after all the elementary children are safe at home, ghostly figures have been witnessed patrolling the halls around the library. While the reasons behind the Bellwood Elementary hauntings have not been uncovered, there are reportedly some records from Bellwood’s past that document concerns over the use of coal-burning stoves in the building. Could this historical detail offer an explanation about the ghost of the burned woman? - Lindsay Merkel
2) PHOENIXVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY - PHOENIXVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA
In the community of Phoenixville, the Phoenixville Public Library is a facility with a rich and notoriously haunted history. The library first came into existence in 1896 as a small collection of books donated to the Phoenixville School District. In 1901, philanthropist Andrew Carnegie donated funds to purchase a plot and construct the public library building. A children’s section of the library was added to the basement in the 1920s, and the following decades saw continual increases in the library’s collection and facility.
Although there is little information available about why or how the Phoenixville Public Library became haunted, it has been so for as long as anyone can remember. Several apparitions have been reported over the years, both by employees and library patrons. The original librarian, an old woman in ghostly form, is reported to reside in the library’s attic. A little girl is believed to haunt the children’s library in the basement, and sometimes the elevator leading down to it. And the specter of an old man and his dog have been sighted, inexplicably strolling through the library shelves.
One employee, who worked at Phoenixville Library for 17 years, witnessed several examples of paranormal activity during his tenure, including how, after he had carefully pushed in the library’s chairs at closing time, they were found scattered all around the Carnegie Room the following morning. Rocking chairs have also been spotted rocking with no one in them, cold spots have been felt, doors were heard shutting on their own, and fleeting figures have been glimpsed.
Phoenixville Public Library has been the site of several paranormal investigations, and teams have reported lots of unexplained equipment malfunctions during filming; one team member who was attempting to film a “mockumentary” project on site even alleged that he dropped something in the attic, which disappeared and was never seen again! When the Chester County Paranormal Research Society spent the night in the library, a night surveillance camera reportedly to caught a book flying off a shelf.
Having personally visited this library many times, I never experienced any paranormal activity while inside, but I can say that there is something eerie behind the calm, quiet atmosphere - much the proverbial feeling of “being watched,” even if no one was nearby. Maybe it’s only because I’m aware of the library’s haunted history that I conjured up these spooky feelings, but I still always expected to turn and see something otherworldly around every bookshelf, from the adult room to the children’s basement to the stairwell. The legend of Phoenixville Library’s ghosts is a strong one!

1) WILLARD LIBRARY - EVANSVILLE, INDIANA
What exactly is going on at Willard Library? Judging by pictures snapped on multiple “ghost cams” throughout the building, Willard Library looks to be some kind of paranormal portal into the spiritual dimension. The library’s history is rather benign, having begun its legacy as a private donation library from Willard Carpenter and incorporated to the city of Evansville in 1881. The building, resembling a Victorian Gothic structure, was first begun in 1876, but a depressed economy halted its progress, leaving the foundation unfinished until 1882. It is home to a vast range of genealogy and local history special collections, and also to the ghost of the famous Grey Lady.
The Grey Lady, Willard Library’s most well-known apparition, roams the stacks quietly, aptly wearing a gray dress and veil. Her identity is not certain, but according to legend she may be Louise Carpenter, Willard’s daughter who was allegedly unhappy when he died and left most of his estate to the library; her haunting of the library is her revenge for an eternal grudge against her father. However, the Grey Lady has never been reported to be a malevolent presence, so this tale may not hold true, but she has been reported as a near constant presence! She was first spotted by a custodian in 1931, and since then has racked up hundreds to thousands of reports of ghostly activity. She makes her presence known through sightings, moving around books, turning lights and faucets on and off, touching people and creating cold spots, and also emitting the strong scent of musky perfume. Some of the documented run-ins with the Grey Lady include:
Psychics visiting the library in 2007 say they were able to verify that a ghost has been there, and paranormal investigative groups have brought in equipment designed to locate it.
Several library employees have reported seeing the ghost, including Margaret Maier, Children’s Librarian, and Helen Kamm, Library Assistant.
During a visit to the library, lecturers from the University of Southern Indiana say they saw the ghost peering into water.
Policemen responding to a security alarm at the library spotted two ghosts in an upstairs window of the library.
A library patron reported an encounter with the Grey Lady in the library elevator, and a local weathercaster also reported an encounter with the spirit.
Though it has been almost a decade since the Grey Lady apparition has actually been seen, when an assistant children’s librarian saw her in a basement hallway in 2010, paranormal happenings continue to occur throughout the building – and they don’t all appear to be the work of the Grey Lady.
Since 1999, Willard Library has been running ghost cams throughout the building, continually filming different areas and streaming online for at-home ghost hunters to search for onscreen ghosts. While some captures could be explained away as misidentified objects, sunlight or shadows, or even real people walking through the rooms, other images are creepy and puzzling. From misty figures to shadow specters to something that looks oddly like a wolf head on a suit of armor, the paranormal happenings at Willard Library are famous, mysterious, and plentiful!

Space scientists have used eight radio telescopes around the world to assemble data and create the first image of a supermassive black hole. The creation of this black hole picture (an object estimated to be 6 BILLION times bigger than the SUN) is a momentous occasion for science, as it took two years, 200 scientists and supercomputers, and hundreds of terabytes of data to generate it… and it looks just like the blurry Eye of Sauron. Check out the full story of Sauron’s rebirth - I mean the black hole of galaxy M87 - in the article below, issued by the Associated Press and shared on Fox29 News:
Scientists on Wednesday revealed the first image ever made of a black hole, depicting its hot, shadowy edges where light bends around itself in a cosmic funhouse effect.
Assembling data gathered by eight radio telescopes around the world, astronomers created the picture showing the violent neighborhood around a supermassive black hole, the light-sucking monsters of the universe theorized by Einstein more than a century ago and confirmed by observations for decades.
It looked like a flaming orange, yellow and black ring.
"We have seen what we thought was unseeable. We have seen and taken a picture of a black hole. Here it is," said Sheperd Doeleman of Harvard.
Jessica Dempsey, a co-discoverer and deputy director of the East Asian Observatory in Hawaii, said it reminded her of the powerful flaming Eye of Sauron from the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy.
Unlike smaller black holes that come from collapsed stars, supermassive black holes are mysterious in origin. Situated at the center of most galaxies, including ours, they are so dense that nothing, not even light, can escape their gravitational pull. This one's "event horizon" -- the point of no return around it, where light and matter begin to fall inexorably into the abyss -- is as big as our entire solar system.
Three years ago, scientists using an extraordinarily sensitive observing system heard the sound of two much smaller black holes merging to create a gravitational wave, as Albert Einstein predicted. The new image, published in the Astrophysical Journal Letters and announced around the world in several news conferences, adds light to that sound.
Outside scientists suggested the achievement could be worthy of a Nobel Prize, just like the gravitational wave discovery.
While much around a black hole falls into a death spiral and is never to be seen again, the new image captures "lucky gas and dust" circling at just far enough to be safe and seen millions of years later on Earth, Dempsey said.
Taken over four days when astronomers had "to have the perfect weather all across the world and literally all the stars had to align," the image helps confirm Einstein's general relativity theory, Dempsey said. Einstein a century ago even predicted the symmetrical shape that scientists just found, she said.
"It's circular, but on one side the light is brighter," Dempsey said. That's because that light is approaching Earth.
The measurements are taken at a wavelength the human eye cannot see, so the astronomers added color to the image. They chose "exquisite gold because this light is so hot," Dempsey said. "Making it these warm gold and oranges makes sense."
What the image shows is gas heated to millions of degrees by the friction of ever-stronger gravity, scientists said. And that gravity creates a funhouse effect where you see light from both behind the black hole and behind you as the light curves and circles around the black hole itself, said astronomer Avi Loeb, director of the Black Hole Initiative at Harvard. (The lead scientists in the discovery are from Harvard, but Loeb was not involved.)
The project cost $50 million to $60 million, with $26 million of that coming from the National Science Foundation.
Johns Hopkins astrophysicist Ethan Vishniac, who was not part of the discovery team but edits the journal where the research was published, pronounced the image "an amazing technical achievement" that "gives us a glimpse of gravity in its most extreme manifestation."
He added: "Pictures from computer simulations can be very pretty, but there's literally nothing like a picture of the real universe, however fuzzy and monochromatic."
"It's just seriously cool," said John Kormendy, a University of Texas astronomer who wasn't part of the discovery team. "To see the stuff going down the tubes, so to speak, to see it firsthand. The mystique of black holes in the community is very substantial. That mystique is going to be made more real."
There is a myth that says a black hole would rip you apart, but Loeb and Kormendy said the one pictured is so big, someone could fall into it and not be torn to pieces. But the person would never be seen from again.
Black holes are "like the walls of a prison. Once you cross it, you will never be able to get out and you will never be able to communicate," Loeb said.
The first image is of a black hole in a galaxy called M87 that is about 53 million light years from Earth. One light year is 5.9 trillion miles, or 9.5 trillion kilometers. This black hole is about 6 billion times the mass of our sun.
The telescope data was gathered by the Event Horizon Telescope two years ago, but it took so long to complete the image because it was a massive undertaking, involving about 200 scientists, supercomputers and hundreds of terabytes of data delivered worldwide by plane.
The team looked at two supermassive black holes, the M87 and the one at the center of our own Milky Way galaxy. The one in our galaxy is closer but much smaller, so they both look the same size in the sky. But the more distant one was easier to take pictures of because it rotates more slowly.
"We've been hunting this for a long time," Dempsey said. "We've been getting closer and closer with better technology."
Is this generated image what you expected a black hole to look like? Share your thoughts about this scientific accomplishment in the comments - and also enjoy this totally accurate LOTR-Black Hole meme… probably the first of many to come.
The following written confession was shared via Reddit:
So I've read nearly every post on here and have yet to find anything that sounds exactly like what my friends and I used to call the white thing. I grew up in rural Pennsylvania and a big group of us used to hang out at my friends parents house. His dad was a doctor so they had this huge house deep in the woods so we would spend basically every day and night here.
Everyone knew about the white thing and honestly just hearing about it scared me so much i hated walking to my car at night there, the woods just seemed odd. I had never personally seen it, but I wasn't allowed to spend as much time there as most of the other kids but I trusted what they told me.
They always talked about the white thing as they called it, and described it as about 7-8 feet tall, pure white, humanoid body type, and could run extremely fast. Everyone who had seen it encountered it a few times but was never able to get a great look because the minute it was spotted it would run back into the woods.
The weirdest encounter was when the family's aunt went on vacation once she left her tiny dog to stay at the house while she was gone. It was a really nice dog and she hung around and played with us the week she was there. She never strayed too far from the lawn and was obviously trained. One night she went out to use the restroom and then never came back. They found her collar and everyone assumed the white thing ate her. No one ever really talked about her again.
The really strange thing was when I was in college I was being interviewed by the archivist for a series of books he wrote about myths and legends of PA. We were talking about this road from that same very small town (about 800 people) that has a lot of typical scary legends around it. After we were done we were just chatting and he said he'd come across a few old reports of a werewolf in that town from the early 1900s I think. He asked me if I had ever heard of that and I told him about the white thing and he seemed a little surprised but that is as far the conversation went.
I moved away and don't really visit there much or talk to any of those people anymore but I wonder if it still exists or if it ever did or was just a story a bunch of kids talked about until they all believed in it in some way. Also my interview was never included in the book which was pretty disappointing. Sorry if this was lengthy but I was wondering if anyone else had anything similar? Maybe an albino dog man?

Snapchat is a messaging app lets users easily talk with friends, check out ‘Live Stories’ from all over the world, and read up on recent news. But is it also the latest, greatest way to ghost hunt?
In the following compilation video, 18 people allege to have caught some sort of ghostly activity on screen while using Snapchat. While it’s possible that some of the “ghosts” on camera are the results of technical glitches, not every clip can be as easily explained away, making for at least a bit of head-scratching footage! (… especially clip #10… what kind of nightmare is that?!)
From invisible faces detected by filters to strange activity and creepy figures, is the Snapchat app really a low tech social media ghost meter?
Well, the Snapchat logo IS a cartoon ghost, so……

For the last 5 years, Chapman University in California has conducted a battery of surveys focusing on in-depth examinations of American fears. Their research studies a range of topics, from government, health and environmental matters, to disaster preparedness, personal anxieties, and paranormal beliefs.
In 2018, their most recent survey revealed that government corruption is currently the primary fear that concerns Americans. However, the survey also revealed that fears and beliefs in the paranormal have been gradually rising over the past few years! Take a look below at the breakdown of the paranormal study, directly from Chapman University:
The Chapman University Survey of American Fears Wave 5 (2018) includes a battery of items on paranormal beliefs ranging from belief in aliens and psychic powers to Bigfoot and haunted houses.
Currently the most common paranormal belief in the United States is that places can be haunted by spirits (57.7%), followed closely by the belief that ancient, advanced civilizations, such as Atlantis once existed (56.9%). More than two out of five Americans (41.4%) believe that that aliens visited Earth in our ancient past and more than a third believe aliens are visiting now (35.1%). Of the items we asked about, Americans are the most skeptical about fortune tellers, with only approximately 17.2% believing that others can see the future.
The Prevalence of Paranormal Beliefs
Paranormal beliefs have become the norm in the United States, if we examine how many such beliefs a person holds. Using the seven paranormal items included on the Chapman University Survey of American Fears Wave 5 (2018), we find that only about a fourth of Americans (24.1%) do not hold any of the seven beliefs. What this means is that more than ¾ of Americans believe in at least one paranormal phenomenon.
All Paranormal Beliefs are On the Rise
The Chapman University Survey of American Fears has included the same set of questions about paranormal beliefs on three waves of the survey. What is striking is how rapidly such beliefs are rising.
Belief in six of the seven paranormal items increased between 2017 and 2018, the only exception being the belief that fortune tellers and psychics can foresee the future. All seven items have risen in levels of belief since 2016. For example, Americans are fourteen percent more likely to believe that aliens once visited the earth than they were in 2016. Americans have become seven percent more likely to believe in Bigfoot in only two years.
Given that our survey includes a margin for error of +/- 3%, we should note that some of these changes maybe be slightly bigger or smaller than presented. However, the major pattern is clear – American is becoming more paranormal.
What do you think is responsible for this increase in paranormal fears and beliefs? Share with us in the comments!

“My wife and three kids and I were in vacation last weekend in Eureka Springs Arkansas. We had to go visit the Crescent Hotel and do the ghost tour. Long story short, I caught a pic of what can only be described as a ghost cat. It was a ‘live’ pic on my iPhone. When playing the short clip that the live pics take you can actually see the ‘ghost’ run down some steps and appears to jump onto the arm of a sofa. It’s the craziest thing ever!“
It’s now a two-year-old-mystery: how have 200 gallons of oil poured out of an ordinary Bible in Georgia? People have been speculating, examining, and writing about this seemingly miraculous Bible since it first began its mysterious oil flow in January 2017, and so far the questions - and the oil - still keep coming.
Check out the strange (and possibly supernatural) story with video below, published several months ago by Unexplained Mysteries:
“For the last 18 months, gallons of oil have been flowing out of a Bible in Georgia, and some are calling this “an end times miracle”. You may be tempted to think that this is some sort of a stunt to make money, but that isn’t happening. In fact, the owner of the Bible actually gives away vials of the oil for free, and people are allowed to freely dip their hands into it. The oil has been submitted to a chemist for testing, and he confirmed that it is oil, but it doesn’t appear to be any sort of oil that is produced by man. So could it be possible that this is a real miracle, or is this just some sort of cruel hoax?
For quite some time, believers have been gathering in the prayer room of a gift shop in Dalton, Georgia for prayer and worship. In January 2017, oil started pouring from a Bible owned by one of those believers, and the oil hasn’t stopped dripping since…
In the back of a little gift shop in Dalton, Georgia there is a prayer room. For the past two years people have gathered there to pray for their city, region, and each other and intermittently oil has dripped from the walls. January 27th of this year one of those prayer warriors, Jerry, noticed his Bible was dripping with oil. Starting with Psalm 39 it spread over the next few days through the rest of the Old Testament, the New Testament, and the concordance. Then the oil started back in Genesis and spread till it covered the whole Bible.
When he realized the oil wasn’t going to stop, Jerry put the Bible in a ziploc bag at first, but as the oil continued, he had to size up to larger and larger containers. The bucket he now keeps it in continues to refill. God told him early on that as long as he gives the oil away freely and does not sell it, the oil will continue to flow.
So is there anything particularly special about this oil?
Well, it is claimed that people have been healed from a number of different diseases after being anointed with this oil, and that includes cancer.
In addition, the oil has no taste and no color, and when it was sent in for testing, the chemist said that it was “most similar to mineral oil”.
Over time you would think that the oil would damage the Bible, but as you can see in the video above, not even the highlighting that had been previously done has been affected by the oil.
Of course not everyone is convinced. On one Christian website, this miracle was dismissed as a “bizarre and comical claim”.
But no evidence was presented that disproved this miracle.
In fact, no source that I have been able to find has been able to disprove this miracle so far.
So what do you think?
Do you believe that this is a miracle, or do you believe that this is a hoax?”
What do you think about this outpouring of oil? Is it a supernatural miracle or a hoax of biblical proportions? Tell us in the comments!
The following written confession was posted on Reddit:
“I had the strangest experience a few weeks back at my local seven eleven early in the morning . I and my fiancé are both in our car headed to 7-11 to get the usual prerequisites that the morning requires .. caffeine, donut, etc ..
We pull into the parking lot and park in the front of the store and we are about to get out when we look to the car next to us . The driver is normal enough , your average looking twenty something Caucasian female but sitting next to her was something quite odd . It was a male , caucasian , glasses on looking for the most part like everyone else . Except for one major difference. He had short goat like horns coming out of his head . They were grey and fat at the base and got thinner as they got farther from the base . It looked like a baby goats maybe , just nubs but still obviously hornlike protrusions.
We quickly turn our heads to verify with each other if we saw the same thing , a moment later and instead of a horned man sitting there I see a large collie dog mix .. The woman driving mind you seems oblivious to all this and is doing her makeup in her visor mirror ..
Baffled we simply pull back out go home and take the day off of work . We spent the day napping and in between naps tried to figure out what we had seen .
Either way it was nuts , the middle of Kansas City , busy parking lot and we see this very odd thing that everyone around us is obviously unable to pick up on.”
Have you ever come face to face with your doppelgänger? Would you want to?
These days the term “doppelgänger” is used to describe two different people who look unusually alike. The internet practically abounds with photos of identical-looking celebrities, people who’ve discovered their so-called doppelgänger in old artworks, and complete strangers who look like they could be long-lost twins. It’s actually eerie how closely most of these people resemble each other. But the original meaning of “doppelgänger” is even eerier.
When translated from German, the word “doppelgänger” literally means “doubler walker” or “double goer,” describing not a lookalike but the ghostly counterpart of a living person… and meeting one’s doppelgänger was never a good thing. Doppelgänger apparitions were sinister occurrences, bringing with them bad omens and evil intentions. In traditional folklore, they are known to impersonate the person they resemble, plant negative and confusing ideas into others’ minds, and signal some kind of impending doom for their earthly counterpart. These demonic doubles are seen as harbingers of illness, tragedy, and death.
While many explanations of the doppelgänger phenomenon have been offered - including supernatural manifestations, electrical glitches of the brain, and mental illness - what is known for sure is that the “double walkers” bring bad news for those who see them, as recorded by a number of spooky historical accounts.
In ascending order of creepiness and tragedy, here are five such accounts of figures in history who had the misfortune to encounter their doppelgänger… and then died:
#5: Catherine the Great
Catherine the Great was the formidable and longest-ruling female leader of Russia, reigning from 1762 until 1796. Though Catherine took the throne by way of a coup that overthrew her own husband and usurped power from her son, who was rightfully the throne’s next heir, her extended rule became known as the Golden Age of Russia.
Shortly before her reign came to an end, something unexpected took to Catherine’s throne, literally - the creepy double of Catherine herself.
According to the account, Catherine was in her bedroom when some troubled servants came to tell her they had just seen the Empress entering the throne room, even though she had been lying in her bed at the exact same moment. The Empress went directly to the room to investigate the servants’ claims. Once there, Catherine encountered a second version of herself, seated calmly on the throne. Ever formidable, the real Catherine ordered her guards to fire on the spectral queen. Presumably, the bullets had no effect and her doppelgänger disappeared with no further recurrences, but not long after this event, Catherine the Great collapsed and suffered a stroke. Within hours she became comatose, and by the evening following the stroke, her reign permanently ended.
#4: Queen Elizabeth I
Elizabeth the First ruled England from late 1558 to early 1603. The daughter of Henry VIII and the beheaded Anne Boleyn, she was the last of the Tudor monarchs to assume the throne. Queen Elizabeth is often referred to as “The Virgin Queen,” as she defied convention by refusing to marry or bear an heir. Her long reign, known as the Elizabethan era, was not without controversy, but did see a flourishing of English drama (through no less than the works of William Shakespeare) and successful seafaring exploits (such as Sir Francis Drake’s circumnavigation of the world), among many other successes.
Though Elizabeth I achieved a long reign, death still sought her out, and allegedly gave her a preview of its coming by way of a dead doppelgänger. According to history, Elizabeth was said to have encountered her own person lying in state like a corpse in her chambers. The doppelgänger was described as “pallid, shivered, and wan,” and though Elizabeth was level-headed and not prone to fantasies, she seemed to know this strange sight meant something ill-fated was in store. Only a few days later, Queen Elizabeth I, aged 69 and monarch of 44 years, was dead in actuality.
#3: Percy Shelley
Percy Shelley was one of the major English Romantic poets, composing such pieces as “To a Skylark” and “Ode to the West Wind.” Unfortunately Shelley never truly saw fame during his lifetime, and was most typically known for being husband to Mary Shelley, the author of the famously known horror novel, Frankenstein.
Percy Shelley had a short life marked by tragedy and turmoil. As a child he was tormented by his schoolmates. As a young adult, Shelley eloped with his first wife whom he later abandoned, and who was also later found dead in a lake, drowned and pregnant. He had several other failed love affairs before marrying Mary Shelley (and is suspected of some afterward as well). Both he and Mary lost three of their four children together, and Mary’s sister Fanny committed suicide.
With a life marked by such sad events, it’s no wonder that, shortly before he died, Percy confessed to Mary that he had many times seen his doppelgänger, a harbinger of bad luck for him and those in his circle. On one such occasion, Percy was strolling on the terrace of his house when he came eerily face to face with his double, who spoke to him, asking, “How long do you mean to be content?” In a strangely similar sighting, Percy’s friend Jane Williams also seems to have encountered Percy’s spectral twin on the terrace, where she claims to have seen him pass by the window several times, but when she went out to him, Percy had disappeared. Jane received the shock of her life when she soon realized that the real Percy was not at home at all.
In one of the final instances of Percy’s encounters with his doppelgänger, he claimed to have seen himself on a beach, pointing out at the sea. Not long afterward, Percy was drowned in a sailing accident in 1812, at the ripe old age of 29.
#2: Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States, serving as the country’s leader through its bloodiest conflict on its own soil, the American Civil War. He is also remembered for abolishing slavey, modernizing the U.S. economy, and preserving the Union. Not as widely known is that Lincoln had an interest in spiritualism and the supernatural.
Having lost two children at young ages, Lincoln’s wife Mary frequently invited mediums to the White House to hold seances, some of which were attended by Lincoln himself. Though he seemed to contend that most mediums were hucksters, Lincoln did believe in the power of dreams to predict the future. He even had an alarmingly accurate dream (unbeknownst to him, of course) in which he walked through several rooms of the White House to the sound of crying, before discovering a dead shrouded body lying in state. Dream-Lincoln asked a nearby soldier to whom the body belonged; the soldier replied it was the President, murdered by an assassin.
Lincoln also encountered what he believed to be another ill omen regarding his fate, when he glimpsed his deathly pale doppelgänger looking at him from a mirror. One of Lincoln’s associates, Noah Brooks, recounted the story the president allegedly told to him on November 9, 1864. Brooks's version of the tale, using Lincoln’s words as best as he remembered them, described the following events:
“It was just after my election in 1860, when the news had been coming in thick and fast all day and there had been a great "hurrah, boys," so that I was well tired out, and went home to rest, throwing myself down on a lounge in my chamber. Opposite where I lay was a bureau with a swinging glass upon it (and here he got up and placed furniture to illustrate the position), and looking in that glass I saw myself reflected nearly at full length; but my face, I noticed had two separate and distinct images, the tip of the nose of one being about three inches from the tip of the other. I was a little bothered, perhaps startled, and got up and looked in the glass, but the illusion vanished. On lying down again, I saw it a second time, plainer, if possible, than before; and then I noticed that one of the faces was a little paler — say five shades — than the other. I got up, and the thing melted away, and I went off, and in the excitement of the hour forgot all about it — nearly, but not quite, for the thing would once in a while come up, and give me a little pang as if something uncomfortable had happened. When I went home again that night I told my wife about it, and a few days afterward I made the experiment again, when (with a laugh), sure enough! the thing came back again; but I never succeeded in bringing the ghost back after that, though I once tried very industriously to show it to my wife, who was somewhat worried about it. She thought it was a "sign" that I was to be elected to a second term of office, and that the paleness of one of the faces was an omen that I should not see life through the last term.”
Critics of the story of Lincoln’s deathly doppelgänger argue that his double image was nothing more than a defect in an old mirror. While that theory is a possibility, the fatalistic Lincoln and his wife Mary believed it was a sign of bad things to come, and fate proved them right. Sadly, we all know how Lincoln’s life story ends, when he was shot in the head and killed by John Wilkes Booth on April 14, 1865, three months into his second presidential term.
#1: Guy de Maupassant
Celebrated French author Guy de Maupassant, who lived and wrote in the second half of the 19th century, is considered to be the father of the modern short story. Though he did write several novels, including Bel Ami, his short stories totaled over 300, and quite a number of them featured themes of the supernatural and paranormal.
One such story, called Le Horla, tells the tale of a man afflicted by an invisible spirit that he unwittingly invited into his home. Gradually the spirit haunts him with increasing ferocity as he begins to lose his mind, and he takes drastic measures, by way of suicide, to rid himself of his tormentor. What makes Le Horla even creepier is that Guy de Maupassant is said to have written the story with the help of his own doppelgänger.
Guy’s interactions with his doppelgänger were reported as frequent and personal, with Guy sometimes meeting with his double every day. As the account goes, Guy and his doppelgänger conversed with one another during their visits, and Guy began writing Le Horla at the dictation of his eerie twin. Of the strange event, French doctor and psychologist Dr. Paul Sollier wrote:
“Maupassant had a vivid hallucination one afternoon and told his friend of it that evening. Working at his desk in his office, where his servant had orders never to enter while he was writing, he seemed to hear his door open. He turned and was not a little surprised when he himself [Maupassant’s double] entered, and came to sit in front of him, head in hand, and began to dictate everything he wrote on the occasion. When he had finished and stood up, the hallucination disappeared. The result was the short story Le Horla.”
Maupassant himself confirmed his recurring encounters with his doppelgänger, saying, “Every other time I come home, I see my double. I open my door, and I see him sitting in my arm-chair. I know it for a hallucination, even while experiencing it. Curious! If I didn’t have a little common sense, I’d be afraid.”
Maupassant had reason to believe his sightings of his spectral double were hallucinations, as a long battle with syphilis had left his mental state slowly deteriorating. As time went on he became increasingly unpredictable and paranoid, even becoming obsessed with the idea that flies were eating away his brain. After writing Le Horla in 1887, Guy’s disease-induced madness culminated in a suicide attempt and admission to an asylum in 1892. In 1893, the disease took his life entirely.
Whether the presence of Guy’s doppelgänger was of a supernatural nature or whether it was the visual and auditory hallucination of a sick man is not a point that can be proven on either side, but the story of his other self is nonetheless disturbing. At best or at worst, Maupassant was either visited repeatedly by a paranormal apparition of death, or spent his time alone talking to an empty room and writing with a companion who didn’t even exist. It‘s not immediately obvious which of these scenarios would be the best and which the worst. What is obvious is how closely Le Horla, his doppelgänger-inspired tale, comes to resemble an autobiographical work, capturing Guy de Maupassant’s final battles with his own demons, be they metaphorical or supernatural ones.

After over 100 years of mystery and speculation, a team of scientists in the U.K. believes they have DNA proof that definitively identifies the legendary serial killer Jack the Ripper - and it appears he was a real-life Sweeney Todd, Demon Barber of Fleet Street. The breaking story originally from Fox News on March 18, 2019 continues below:
‘Forensic analysis by scientists in the U.K. may have unmasked Jack the Ripper more than a century after the murderer's brutal killing spree sent shockwaves through Victorian London.
Research by Dr. Jari Louhelainen, senior lecturer in molecular biology at Liverpool John Moores University and Dr. David Miller, reader in molecular andrology at the University of Leeds, claims to shed new light on the notorious serial killer. In an abstract of their research published in the Journal of Forensic Sciences, Louhelainen and Miller explained they used what is, to their knowledge, the only remaining physical evidence linked to the murders, recovered from one of the Ripper's famous victims at the scene of her death.
Jack the Ripper is thought to have claimed the lives of at least five women in the Whitechapel area of London between August and November 1888. However, the identity of the notorious murderer remains shrouded in mystery.
Science Magazine reports that the scientists analyzed a blood-stained shawl from Catherine Eddowes, the fourth of the so-called "canonical five" Jack the Ripper victims. Eddowes was killed on Sept. 30, 1888, and her badly mutilated body was found on Whitechapel's Mitre Square.
The scientists' genetic testing linked Aaron Kosminski, a 23-year-old Polish barber living in London, to the crimes, according to Science Magazine. Although identified as a Jack the Ripper suspect, police are said to have lacked sufficient evidence to charge Kosminski for the murders.
"We applied novel, minimally destructive techniques for sample recovery from forensically relevant stains on the evidence and separated single cells linked to the suspect, followed by phenotypic analysis," say the scientists, in the Journal of Forensic Sciences. "The mtDNA [mitochondrial DNA] profiles of both the victim and the suspect matched the corresponding reference samples, fortifying the link of the evidence to the crime scene."
Mitochondrial DNA is often described as the "powerhouse of the cell."
Kosminski had been identified by a witness to one of the Jack the Ripper killings, although the witness refused to testify against him, experts say.
However, the latest research claims to back up the witness who pointed the finger at Kosminski.
"Genomic DNA from single cells recovered from the evidence was amplified, and the phenotypic information acquired matched the only witness statement regarded as reliable," said Louhelainen and Miller, in the abstract. "To our knowledge, this is the most advanced study to date regarding this case."
Science Magazine reports that, while Kosminski has been linked to the horrific crimes before, this is the first time that the DNA evidence has been published in a peer-reviewed journal.
More extensive information on the research will be released later this year. "The full story that the paper, and new revealing graphic evidence relating to the case, will be published in September," explained Liverpool John Moores University, in a statement emailed to Fox News.’
Is Aaron Kosminski truly the Demon Barber of Whitechapel? It has long been speculated that Jack the Ripper possessed some kind of medical knowledge due to the way he cut apart his victims. But it is also possible that a barber, responsible for precisely cutting hair and shaving faces (and necks), would have similar handy skills when wielding sharp implements like scissors or a blade. For centuries there were even so-called “barber surgeons,” who were exactly what they sounded like - barbers with limited medical knowledge who performed surgical procedures, from tooth-pulling to bloodletting to limb amputation. Though the practice of barber surgeons was largely ended in the early 19th century, could Aaron Kosminski have studied their methods, and applied them to carrying out gruesome serial killings?
Another interesting detail is the timing of the killings, which is still up for debate. Though the canonical number of murders committed by Jack the Ripper is five, all in 1888, Whitechapel actually saw 11 brutal and unexplained murders which finally ended in 1891. Also in 1891, suspect Kosminski was admitted to an insane asylum. He would remain in asylums until his death in 1919, reportedly suffering from auditory hallucinations, a paranoid fear of being fed by other people, and a refusal to bathe. Could he be responsible for any, or all, of the Whitechapel murders?
With so many years elapsed between Jack the Ripper’s reign of terror and the modern day investigations into his identity, it may be that not even DNA can conclusively solve his mystery. But it certainly does not stop us from continuing to speculate, theorize, and find ourselves morbidly fascinated by this unknown killer of legendary proportions.
